How to Upload a Sound File to Facebook
June 6, 2026 · 4 min readFacebook does not support uploading raw audio files like MP3 or WAV directly to your feed, page, or profile. The solution is simple: convert your audio file into a video first, then share it.

Why Facebook requires a video file
Facebook's feed algorithm and sharing tools are built for visual media. While you can share audio links (like Spotify or SoundCloud links), you cannot upload raw audio files directly to the platform.
Converting your audio into an MP4 video with a static background image or visualizer lets you upload it natively. Native video posts get higher reach, auto-play in feeds, and can be boosted as ads or shared to Facebook Pages and groups.
Recommended formats for Facebook
For standard feed posts, Facebook supports both landscape (16:9) and square (1:1) formats. If you are uploading a podcast clip or a music track, a square (1:1) layout is highly engaging for mobile users scrolling their feed.
